Interview with Marius PDF Print E-mail

Hello Marius, do you manage oil projects in Asia as you would manage them in Europe?

First I should say that if communication skills are essential anywhere in the world, they’re even more in Asia. Then, a positive strong leadership attitude is always required when you’re in charge of a project based in Asia. Indeed, in most Asian countries there is limited experience in the Oil & Gas industry. Procurement problems are more complicated to solve in Asia, due to a lack of vendors able to respond to the specific requirements of the projects. Nevertheless, since most of the projects are led in international environments, managing a team in Asia isn’t that  fundamentally different from managing a team in Europe and any solid European engineer with good communication skills should be able to move to Asia.

Which of your projects are you most proud of?

I’d like to say all of them…but the latest is always the most important for me since I can apply what I’ve learned from all the previous ones. Thanks to NRG Engineering, I’m working today on the Petrovietnam’s Dung Quat Refinery project in Vietnam and it’s probably the most difficult project I’ve ever been involved in. It’s the first and largest construction project refinery ever done in Vietnam so you can imagine how challenging it is.

Why did you join NRG Engineering?

I was excited to join a young company and to see how my expertise could contribute towards its development. The first time I met the team I was impressed by the ambition, the objectives of the company and its dynamism. The vision of its founders was what really convinced me.
